5 Star Ratings
Wendy the Wild Wolf: This Book Must Not Be Destroyed currently sits comfortably on GoodReads.com, Wordery, Toppsta and Dogobooks with a full 5 Stars (…and many other great reviews/ratings whizzing around too!)
Yes, it seems obvious but Wendy the Wild Wolf: This Book Must Not Be Destroyed! is indeed bundles of fun and makes a very enjoyable read. This is not only because of the excitability of its rhyming rolls but also because of how it engages readers and listeners with its infectiously unifying phrasing. Who can resist: The skip and the hop of Wendy; The shake and the sway of the crocodile and the big paw and the roar of the lion. (err, not direct book quotes) The illustrations are just too cute and the added attention to detail of guessing who Wendy will meet next always brings a giggle. This is made even more enjoyable when you see the tops of the characters heads peering through from the next page.
At just 15cm squared, the book is big enough to read and be seen yet small enough to carry when going on a trip or journeying on any little adventure. This topped with the cute illustrations and story makes this a real must-have picture book adventure story.
New and Imaginative Story
It is always refreshing when stories are inventive but yet still give us a gem from the good staple classic notion of storytelling. Wendy the Wild Wolf: This Book Must Not Be Destroyed does exactly that. The whole story becomes a part of the ‘story’ and so this pulls the reader directly into the adventure by almost breaking down the third and forth wall. (Some fans say that it is something of a surreal paradox. see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Df_Qsj45f_M ) This beautifully triggers the wonderful use of the readers imagination.
Green Environmentally Friendly Message
Not only should this book NOT be destroyed but this book also prides a very positive message about keeping the environment tidy. (Especially with all the talk about plastic waste and recycling lately) We join Wendy on her adventure through the woods skipping and hopping with the lovable characters she meets along the way: The Bear, The Lion, The Crocodile and more.
At the rear pages of the book we are invited to help Wendy and friends to keep the woods tidy by spotting all the messy litter. The footer of the page promotes a positive message of keeping all green spaces tidy.
Promo Book Sticker: Wendy Says ‘Keep It Tidy!’
The main character is Wendy and so the story follows the actions made by Wendy throughout this adventure. The greatness of this book is that it does not identify either as a girl’s nor a boy’s book but instead identifies well with both or any gender.
